I was standing by the roadside
A man then came with insane might
The thought of getting in the jail
But he snatched away the policeman chain
The cop was taken by the shock
He ran to catch the snob
Then he followed the ruffian on the heels
And tripped down on the banana peels
The man ran like as for Olympics gold
And the cop was big, fat and old
He who once was superior and tight
Was now the victim of his own fight
The hoodlum ran way with the chain
And the policeman just watched him fade
As he settled down exhausted by his own weight
The story was over and the trade was made
