She puts a strong face
all the times,
she weeps under the pillow
in the depths of the night.
She runs in the hallway
at the sound of your voice,
she checks your room
a thousand times.
She still looks through the glass
waiting for you to return,
she cooks in misery
and often gets burned.
She smiles to fight her demons
and in a minute crumbles,
she clutches your picture close to her heart,
and it makes her fall apart.
She looks at the stars in the grey skies
and searches for that brightest light,
she talks about you all the times
and how you made us smile,
she looks at me with the eyes of hope,
as we live in the silence of empty rooms.
It was the best day of our life
when you had opened your eyes,
felt so surreal
as you held my fingers tight,
the tears of joy
trickled down my face,
the smiles you wore
could never be replaced.
Never got hold,
how quickly you grew,
and when you became our sunshine,
and our moon.
I still ring the bell
waiting for you to open the door,
I still hear your feet
running across the floor.
I sit at the table
gazing at nothing across,
and smiling endlessly
at your words, that now are lost.
The home seems in ruins
without your smiles,
and the silence cuts through us
like a sharp knife.
We somewhere wait
for the time to reverse,
wish we had the power
to save you from that curse.
Will still fight
for our lives to revive,
but, a part of us already died
the day you closed your eyes.
