#### Poverty and Survival (Rap song about poverty)

A little girl
by the roadside
begging for help,
trying to pick up her life
that’s in a mess

Despised by the stares
she accepts insinuation,
and no one cares
how fragile is her situation

Tears,
trickle-down her eyes
as she watches
the green lights

Paralyzed mother
and her infant brother,
roughed up
and left to rot
beside a gutter

This is the world
we live in,
countless people
lost within,
shattered by the fate
and prayers they say,
does he listen at all?
or
just laughs at the dismay

The mother
cursing her stars,
the infant
crying for food,
and the girl running
on the road
barefoot,
was a repeated act to see,
I skipped a heartbeat
and drove away,
couldn’t watch her misery

She never lost her will,
the other day I saw her
selling pens at the same signal

I asked her if she was alright,
and tears again drenched
her cheeks and eyes
She held a smile,
said,
she can carry a burden much bigger,
her will is not weak
and even she has the honor

I lay awake all night
and was awed by her lines,
closed my eyes
in order to find…

Why there is so much poverty in this world?
Why the money was created and who won?
Why dreams, when mostly they never become real?
Why the difference? coz post-life, we all shall be one

No answers echoed
and I looked above,
it was dark
all around and somewhere
a hidden sun
