This world seems calm today
Clear skies will quench my soul today
We have survived another night in the history
This war seems like a never-ending misery

The bombs and fires hurl around
We always wake to an unbearable sound
Today is not the same account
and we are not dumped radioactive under the ground

The powerful allies have the capability within
To erase the humanity in the flicker of a second
We want to live in a world of love and peace
This war and destruction is not what humanity needs

We hope the hunger of power embrace the nations no more
as death has already swiped away many innocent souls
Let the bombs, bullets, and weapons be a reason for peace
We don’t want to be radioactive and dumped beneath

Synopsis: A poem about World War 2 and the U.S. atomic bombings. It depicts what people might have thought and hoped for after the first atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima by the U.S. on 6th August 1945, leading to the total destruction of the city.
