Morning of December 7, 1941

The turquoise blue sky, and the sun shining across the horizon
It was wonderfully warm and conspicuously silent
An Albatross flying over the Pacific
Cried warning sign of something horrific

Soldiers tied to the bed across the Hawaiian shore
Slept unaware of what was in store
Suddenly, the silence broke into a loud roar
And an unidentified enemy in the sky above soared

The sound of beacons reverberated in the surrounding
Thunderous noises mixed in the scenes of confusion and panic
The torpedos and bombs rained like darts across the sky
The unarmed men fled to the corners to save their lives

The planes drowned and battleships blown
The metal was scattered across the flesh and bones
Helpless, they prayed for the calamity to subside
But the war machines had taken an oath to run the riot

The catastrophe had hit in the peaceful times
There was only blood and corpses left to admire
The spectacle was devastating and gore
Only cries were prominent across the shore

But all was not good between the two in the past
One was filled with power lust and the other wanted reasoning to last
The negotiations failed at every point in time
Nobody backed off to pacify the inevitable fight

A nation stabbed with the cowardly strike
The thought of peaceful talks got lost in the ashes of time
The Congress approved the voice of the President
A vengeful country then entered the war with the retribution and precedent

Synopsis: A poem about Pearl Harbor incident that goes back to the time of World War 2 when the Japanese Air Force devised a surprise attack on the US Navy base of Pearl Harbor for hidden imperial ambitions. This ultimately led the US to enter World War 2 with Mr. Roosevelt being then the President of the United States.

Thousands of soldiers were killed and injured as part of this deadly strike, and around 20 navy vessels including 8 battleships were destroyed with the intention of capitulating the enemy’s might.
