Waking every morning,
torn apart,
choking in the sunshine,
another day embarks.

Picking myself up,
the weight unbearable,
my legs get frozen,
I feel deplorable.

Pictures of the past,
bleed within the mind,
broken, I see myself,
wearing a disguise.

Turning away from the mirror,
I hide my scars,
living in a society,
that puts on a facade.

Charade,
strong masquerade,
I walk down the road,
infused with pain.

Back home,
reality dawns,
something’s amiss,
so I wear my skin on.

The ground breaks,
I lie six feet beneath,
honing the pain,
I never sleep.

Feeling numb,
I run across the hall,
pick up a blade,
but can’t let myself fall.

Embracing an overdose,
I live in disdain,
holding onto this curse,
I crawl through another day
