A blog about dreams and making sense out of them.

I felt happy and ecstatic, but also confounded at the same time. Is this for real? It was so serene. The snow-clad mountains, cool breeze, blue skies, and the ocean; everything was just perfect.

While I was embracing the beauty of nature, somebody called out my name. I turned around. Where was I? Flowers, colorful drapes, laughing voices, wine glasses; a wedding ceremony? Bewildered, and suddenly I saw my school friend waving his hand at me. What is going on? Whose marriage is it? “Come with me”, he said and I followed him, failing to pour out my confusion.

The sound of ladies singing, children running around, snacks being served, all that you can expect from the occasion, it was there. While I walked with my friend, inside of me, trying to make sense of things in parallel, I saw my aunt sitting in a corner. What? My friend and my aunt at the same place? What the hell? Anyways, I stopped and greeted her but she did not respond, as if I was invisible. Something was amiss. Tapping my shoulder he(friend) said, “What happened? Let’s go”. Something struck my mind at that moment. Shocked, I realized, it can’t be possible; she was supposed to be dead. I turned around, and she was not there. Yeah, just gone.

As I was coping up with the reality and virtuality of my mind, I saw another school friend of mine standing in front of me. I had not seen him for a long time. He said nothing and just hugged me, and my other friend, well, he was gone. Crazy?

“What are you doing here?” I asked him. “Turn around”, he said and as I did, there was water all around me. It was like an ocean and I was drowning. “Help me”, I called him, but he was also gone. Gasping, as I turned back, I saw monkeys swimming in front of me, screeching and panicking. Suddenly, a violent roar surrounded the ocean. I thought it was a big thunder, but then I felt something huge behind me, something so big that it covered the sky. As I looked back, to my horror, I saw a monster, a king kong. A thud of the leg and a gigantic wave of water rose behind me. As it was swallowing me up, I still tried to swim for my life. It was the end, I knew, but then, it got dark suddenly. I could feel the water filling up my lungs. I just couldn’t breathe, and as I tried to take a deep breath, the next instance I saw myself lying on the floor in pain and struggling for the air. The water was all gone. Creepy.

I stood up and looked around. It was a movie theatre. “What?”. The king kong was right in front of me but on the screen. I held my heart, and with some relief took a look around again; the theatre was empty. It was a bad feeling and it was not right to be there. I tried to run, but something was tied to my feet. I couldn’t move and screamed, and the next moment, I was falling, totally numb. It was a black hole, I guess. I felt an epileptic jolt in my head, and I was panting. It was a familiar neighborhood this time. I was alive and it was just a dream.

“Move…”, someone said from behind. I was sitting in a car, stuck in a traffic jam. “What is wrong with you?”, I shouted. “Can’t you see the pile of cars in front of me?”. “We have to reach the hospital as soon as possible”, my mother cried who was sitting on the adjacent seat. “Don’t worry. Wait here. Let me check”, I calmed her and got off the car. I waited for a moment and said to myself “I can drive?” and then just ran towards the traffic. “What happened? Why this jam?” I inquired with someone. His face was not visible. “Look there”, he said in a heavy voice. I followed where his finger pointed and saw that a flyover had collapsed and there was commotion all around. “There is no way to get through this jam today”, I quickly ran towards my car and asked my mother to get off. I held her hand and the next moment I saw myself standing on the opposite side of where the flyover had collapsed. It was dark, but a few minutes back it was a sunny afternoon.

Before I could get a hang of it, in a sudden reflex, I held the hand of a kid and pushed him back. “Watch out. You can’t just run on the road like this”, I shouted at him. I focussed and realized, that kid was my niece. “What? Mom?”, I shouted and for a moment I turned back looking for her. Suddenly, I felt a push on my hand and as I looked back, a man was running off with my niece and she was crying for help. I tried stopping him, but then the earth cracked and I fell into it. Another jolt in my head and it was deja vu. It was again, just a dream.

I never went back to sleep. It made no sense, never has.
