The Unprecedented Cult – Candid Behind the Walls: A website about poems, songs, blogs around personal experiences, informative articles, and more.

To all the Walleaders…

THE BEGINNING

“The Unprecedented Cult” or TUC, a poetry space, came into existence in the year 2010, but its inception dates back to the year 2001 when I lost a very close person in my life, my grandfather. That was an unprecedented situation for me; something I couldn’t comprehend. It left a scar and a deep void inside my heart. I didn’t know what to do.

I lost my best friend, mentor, and savior. I knew that the journey ahead would not be easy. And it made sense. If you lose a person on whom you are heavily dependant, your world is meant to come crashing down. There is no escaping the truth of life and death. One moment you are breathing, all fine, and the next moment you are gone as if you never existed.

Anyways, the time ticked on, and just when I thought that everything was falling in place, death knocked on my door again. Deja Vu. Over the next few years, I lost my grandmother and father. It was too much to take in and just added to the existing misery and pain. I never thought that life would take such a drastic turn. It was what I never wanted. The one thing I feared the most, I had to face it now. It happens all the time.

People usually move on with time, but for me, that decade left a huge void and changed a lot of things. Being an introvert, it was tough to verbally express my feelings. I felt choked and turned into a recluse. I was socially cut off and my mind was often left numb. Even when people were around I didn’t hear them.

I desperately needed a venting mechanism to overcome the suffocation, pain, and misery. I needed a space to pen down the disturbing thoughts that had penetrated and exposed my vulnerable side, a side I never knew existed in me. To expel the storm brewing inside, I had to get hold of the words that continuously sprinted in my head and engrave them on a piece of paper. I did just that.

Every word felt like a part of an unheard poem or a piece of a dark song. It was like a huge weight on my chest. Every feeling I felt, every word I found within, I wrote it down.

There was no thought put into the writing style, but I would like to state that Linkin Park, a popular rap-rock band, greatly inspired me. I was able to relate to their music and the story behind their lyrics. Their songs were always a savior in my dark moments. Strange, if you think about it first, but those dark songs always showed me a route to let go of the thoughts and memories burning inside.

For the detailed story on the people I lost and how my life changed, check out the blog – The Death Chronicle: Building the Walls.

BUILDING THE WALLS & CREATING GRAFFITI

If you go through the webspace, “a website about poems and songs,” would be your first reaction considering the bulk of the content revolves around these two categories. True to an extent. This is because I have been writing poetry and song lyrics for almost two decades.

Delve more, and you will find that the majority of my poems and songs have an essence of angst, darkness, pain, and grief; the things that defined me then and to a certain extent still do. But this would not have been a surprise for you considering the story of my life.

It all started as a simple plain website about poems, but later, self-curated lyrics also became an integral part of the space. The writings were personal. They were like the graffiti on the walls, the walls of Poetry and Lyrics (the main content categories on this website) I built. I can’t recall when I started living inside those walls and when the enclosed space became my haven.

Over time, don’t know why, but I felt an urge to share my emotions and experiences with unknown people. But how? That was when I decided to go online. There was no other best way considering the bulk of the people are on the internet.

The intention was to show the world the walls and my graffiti. However, I wanted to do this without showing a face or being judged, and therefore, “Candid behind the Walls”By reaching out to the audience, I wanted an assurance that there were people in this world who would understand what I was going through, and maybe it will help me in sharing my pain and misery with them.

For me, this idea of pouring out the words worked like an effective drug, a healing therapy. It helped me overcome some of the distress that otherwise continuously pushed me to the edge.

AIM TO REACH OUT TO CONCERNED PEOPLE

I did not give up on writing. It was my source of sanity. I wrote whenever something bothered me and did not care if it reverberated the same feeling as of the previous day. I always felt light penning down the darkness that was living inside of me. Over time, I realized that these writings may help other people too in venting out their misery and pain just as they did for me.

I wanted to connect with people, an unknown section of the society, that was living a dual life (smiling and wearing a mask when around people but suffocating from the inside when all alone). I had a feeling that people would be able to relate to my words in a way as if those words were telling their stories. The aim was to make the reader feel relieved by writings that would absorb some of their misery and negative thought process. This was important because if not tackled, even a little bit of darkness brewing inside can lead to fatal outcomes.

There are so many people out there who are in a pretty bad mental state and are not able to share it with anyone. This way of life is toxic and the result is naked: suicides that we see and hear about every single day. Suffocation needs to be thrown out, and trust me, most people don’t tackle it. Thinking too much and shedding tears alone does not solve the purpose. The more you try to stay strong, pretending, the more you are destroying yourself. In a few days, you will be crawling through life and won’t even know what hit you.

Now, you may say that we can always turn to our friends and close ones and discuss our mental issues. Trust me, it is not as simple. You may suppress your feelings when around people, but inside there would be a deadly volcano waiting to erupt. It is so much tough to fight that feeling alone.

The Unprecedented Cult moved ahead with the motive of helping people where they can just spit out their darkness by reading the content that reciprocated their feelings. TUC is now a revolution, an artwork, and also a haven for the disturbed.

I hope my work esp. song lyrics and poetry helps people who are in a real mess and suffering in silence to get rid of their misery, even a bit, if not all. That is why most of my writings are heavily loaded with content around mental health concerns.

Going forward, I intend to add more articles and information around various mental health conditions that people should be aware of. It is high time that society should accept and be open about mental health concerns. Ignoring mental health issues can cripple a person for life. Mental health victims need care and the right treatment. More importantly, they need a way to discuss what they are feeling inside. Listen and involve them in talks and activities that keep them busy.

DREAM COME TRUE

The Unprecedented Cult started as a sub-entity/sub-domain of WordPress.com, but I always wanted to give the blog its own identity and reach out to people around the globe. I wanted The Unprecedented Cult to be seen as a “website for highlighting the miserable state of the depressed through poems,” a “website about sending a blatant message to help people living with mental health concerns”, and lastly a “website about poems and song lyrics showcasing the hidden reality of mental issues.”

At the start of the year 2020, with this dream in mind and to expand the blog’s reach, I finally decided to buy an exclusive domain. I opted for the domain name the same as the blog’s original name to keep the identity intact. And, here it is.

WHAT’S NEXT? NOT ONLY A WEBSITE ABOUT POEMS AND SONGS

Today, TUC is a website about poems, songs, personal experiences, and informative articles. We have kept the blog as multi-niche and have added new walls/categories like Quotes and Product reviews.

Though the key focus area of the website has always been poems and songs, today, I aim to expand its horizon. Over the past few years, I have developed a keen interest in reading and gathering information about different topics. Technology, world events, mythology, history, personal experiences, and mental health concerns top my areas of focus. I have already added some graffiti around these topics, and I’ll add more in the future. An afterthought, I’ll publish whatever will make me curious. No predefined rules.

The end goal is to make The Unprecedented Cult a hub, a library, a place for different types of information, a place to vent out and find peace, a place to highlight social issues, and a place to unravel the reality. The Unprecedented Cult is and will always be a place where any person can be irrespective of age or gender or interests.

The Walls Space (or blog space) will always be based on the core idea of creating content that people can relate to in different ways. The primary motive of this website will always be penning down emotions, expressions, and experiences in the form of poems, lyrics, and blogs.
